Basic Principles on the Environment
The Japanese Shipowners' Association (JSA), recognizing the importance of conserving the earth and the marine environment as being among the highest priorities, seeks for perfection in the safe navigation of vessels as well as promotes the easing of burdens on the environment and the effective use of resources, with the aim of reducing the risk of sea disasters and oil spills which inevitably cause marine pollution.
In escalating its efforts to advance the preservation of the environment, the JSA will at the same time continue to contribute to the healthy development of the Japanese and world economies, in recognition of the shipping industry being an important logistical element of the infrastructure which supports all industrial activities and people's lives.
